ChatGPT Ads

ChatGPT ads are sponsored placements that OpenAI shows below ChatGPT's answers, labeled as sponsored and matched to the topic of the conversation. In the US they reach adult users on the Free and Go plans. For service businesses they are a new way to reach people while they research a problem, before they search for a provider.

ChatGPT Ads: common questions

Are ChatGPT ads available to small businesses?

Yes. OpenAI lets businesses sign up for ads at ads.openai.com, and local services were among the first categories OpenAI said it would support. Legal and health advertisers go through extra review.

Who sees ChatGPT ads?

Adults on the Free and Go plans. Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu accounts are ad-free, and ads are not shown to users under 18 or in sensitive conversations.

Do ChatGPT ads replace Google Ads?

No. For most service businesses ChatGPT is an added channel that reaches people earlier in their research. We run it alongside search and local campaigns and compare cost per booked job across all of them.

Is it too early to advertise in ChatGPT?

Early is the point. Fewer local competitors are bidding, the formats are still simple, and the businesses that learn what works now will have the data when the channel gets crowded.
